Ever since first year, I've heard older students raving about the amazing time they had in TY. This got me buzzing for everything the year had to offer from talks, modules, workshops, trips and in particular a break from the stress of exams. As soon as Induction Day rolled around I started to think about what it was I would like to achieve throughout the year. Firstly, I hope to become closer with the people in my year. Already we have gotten extremely close and I hope this continues as it makes everything more enjoyable. Secondly, I hope to experience as much as possible. There are so many opportunities that TY has to offer from scuba-diving to the musical to the Camino trip and steer clear. I hope to be involved and enjoy all of these new opportunities as not only are they enjoyable but also to learn from these new experiences instead of learning the regular English, Irish and Maths. These experiences could also be things like work experience, I hope I find a route that I feel I would want to take when I leave school. Thirdly, I hope to help others through new and different things I've never done before such as YSI and my community service with Gaisce. I hope in YSI to raise awareness to mental health and come up with new ideas that will help promote the topic. I hope Gaisce will help me experience helping others through the Blue Dolphins and to help me develop physically and mentally with my new skills and physical development. I have a really good feeling about this year and am looking forward to experience all TY has to offer!
